Amy Brown

I came into catering later in life, having spent nearly 15 years in bookselling and publishing, and now I can't imagine doing anything else. Building this company with Heidi has been unimaginably rewarding: the talented staff we've attracted, the dishes and menus we develop, and the clients we serve all make this career the best one for me. My hope is that someday my three daughters can continue the Chowgirls legacy.

Driven by a spirit of collaboration, I co-founded Chowgirls Killer Catering with my newfound friend Amy Lynn Brown in 2004. Our shared enthusiasm for strong branding and creative expression through food and parties has evolved into growing a business that values sustainability on the plate and, equally as important, in the workplace. My personal commitment to wellness has grown in recent years as I’ve become certified as a yoga teacher
and invested in clean eating.

I started cooking mini quiche in Amy Brown’s kitchen in 2006, leaving culinary school to help shape what has now become my home away from home. Thousands of weddings and events later, now I have a dream job planning and ideating our events. When I'm not talking to clients or meddling in someone's business here at Chowgirls, I'm home with three smart and talented girls of my own, making food, drinking wine, reading books and weeding my new NE Minneapolis garden.

Hi there! I was introduced to Chowgirls in early 2010 and was ecstatic to be hired on that Spring. I have loved being part of an amazing community of creatives who are dedicated to making our events and food so phenomenal. In 2014 I became a Certified Cicerone ® (the beer world's version of a wine Sommelier), which has been so fun to focus some of my events around beer! When I am not at Chowgirls I enjoy long road trips with my family and short camping adventures around Minneasota state parks. We spend a good amount of our time cooking, explaining the world to our 4-year-old, brewing and drinking good beer, and gardening at our home in St. Paul.

I stumbled upon an events internship in college, and as the saying goes, the rest it history! Seven years later my home is now Solar Arts by Chowgirls; I couldn’t be happier to be part of such an amazing team! I love meeting with clients, helping plan their event down to the very last detail. It’s so rewarding to watch someone’s vision come to life. Outside my life at Chowgirls, you can find me cooking with my husband, hanging out with our pups or tending to my NE garden.

I have been a part of the Minneapolis catering industry for over 15 years, coordinating and executing hundreds (and hundreds) of corporate and social events. Some as little as 10 to galas as large as 3000. I have met so many amazing people along this journey. I was so thrilled to be invited into the Chowgirls team this year. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a remarkable company that shares my passion and love for food, respect to the animals we eat and the commitment to planet we live on. Outside of Chowgirls, you can usually find me on a bike or a trail, walking my dogs, cooking in my kitchen, entertaining with family or friends or simply enjoying a good glass of wine.

I joined Chowgirls in 2016 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. I’m excited to be a part of a team that is passionate about providing sustainable, organic and delicious catering. When I’m not at Chowgirls, I enjoy exploring Minneapolis, experimenting with new vegan recipes, and drinking a glass of merlot.

I began my catering journey years ago in Arizona and Las Vegas but could not be more thrilled to be back in Minnesota enjoying life. I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with such a talented team that are so passionate about creating the perfect event for every client. When I am not busy creating events, I love wine tasting, happy hours sampling new fun menu selections, and spending time with my partner, Ryan, and our amazing kids.

The events industry has been an important throughout my career, working in the restaurant and hospitality industry as well as design, planning, & floral. I was introduced to Chowgirls in their early days while living in the Northeast Arts District and always loved their food and service. I joined the team as the Building Project Manager for the design and build-out of Chowgirls’ new headquarters and kitchen in 2016. Since then, I’ve had many roles here and have settled into the role of Event Specialist. When I’m not at work, I enjoy working in my garden, playing croquet, and spending time on the water.

Sarah Vandusseldorp

I joined the Chowgirls team in 2018 after several years in nonprofit fundraising and events. I’m thrilled to have found a women-owned company focused on creative, sustainable catering. I love being a part of the Solar Arts team; no two events are the same and every day brings something new. When I’m not at Solar Arts I’m probably baking something with a lot of sprinkles, drinking a glass of Champagne, or reading on my patio with my dogs, Applejack and Hank.

Mandy Heathcote

I started as a banquet server when I was 15 years old, and never really stopped! Catering and Events has always been a major part of my life, but I have never been more proud and excited as I am to now to call Chowgirls my home. Working alongside a group of woman who fiercely believe in making this world a better place through sustainability and empowering each other has made me happier than ever before! Aside from Chowgirls you can find me at home with my beautiful daughter, loving husband, goofy pup and sassy kitty cat. I am passionate about making art, cooking for those that I love and making my people laugh as much as possible.

Ashley Drietz

I’ve been working in the event and catering industry for the past eight years and am thrilled to have joined the Chowgirls team in 2015. As a farmer’s daughter I am proud to be working for a company that values local, organic and seasonal food. I love being a first point of contact for our clients and learning about the events they are planning. It’s fun to see these events come to fruition as they work with our creative Event Specialists. When I’m not at the HQ front desk I love baking, crafting and going on adventures with my husband and daughter.

Annie Guenthner

My name is Annie and I’ve been with Chowgirls since 2015. I grew up on an organic vegetable CSA in Osceola, WI so equitable food is deeply rooted in what I stand for. One of my favorite parts of working for Chowgirls is the strong commitment to sustainability we all share. I also love the AMAZING food and fun people I work with! Outside of Chowgirls, I enjoy traveling the world, doing anything outside, exploring new food around the Twin Cities, and drinking beer at local breweries with friends.

Nethanya Clayton

I’ve explored many facets of the event business over the last 15 years, progressing into present day me. It’s the comradery of executing events as a team and seeing the guests’ vision through in real time and space that really tickles me. When I’m not surrounded by my Chow peoples, you’ll most likely find me in a troublingly deep conversation with my dog Bowser, sneaking in QT with any member of my enormous family, or bantering with my handsome hubby.

Jillian Osborne

I joined Chowgirls in 2015 and could not be more thrilled to be a part of this team! I feel honored and privileged to work with such a caring, talented, and hard-working group of people. We all share a passion for enjoying excellent food with amazing company. What more could you ask for! I look forward to growing and working together in the years to come to make Chowgirls the best it can be. When I’m not busy with the hustle and bustle of catering, I enjoy spending time with my four nieces and nephews, checking out new restaurants, and going to concerts.

Hello there! I have been working in the food and beverage industry for over 30 years. I instantly fell in love with the crazy work schedule and quirky personalities and it just stuck. Fast forward to 2016 when I moved back to Minneapolis and started working at Chowgirls where I’ve had many roles in all departments. In 2018 I settled into my role as Operations Manager. I love working with so many different personalities and finding the perfect team for each event. When not at work, I like to laugh with my kid, read books, and travel whenever possible.

Elizabeth Mullen

I started working in hospitality twenty four years ago and have never thought of doing anything else. I love to cook for others and making others feel special, especially my two kids. I appreciate the creativity in cooking and the endless opportunity of discovery. I love working for Chowgirls and being part of this awesome community of people. When not in the kitchen at Chowgirls, I am hanging out with my family, spending time with friends and painting at home.

I’ve been cooking for Chowgirls since 2010, so this kitchen is like my second home. I love the freedom this job gives me and the family atmosphere we nurture. When I’m not in the kitchen, I enjoy drinking beer, watching movies, reading, hosting a houseful of friends, or just relaxing on my porch.

Emily Richards

I fell in love with the kitchen before ever setting foot in one professionally. My passions include cooking food, eating food, thinking about food and talking about food. I love the atmosphere of Chowgirls and am delighted to call everyone here true friends. In my free time you can find me playing with my kids, hanging with my best friend Valentine, or testing my luck at pull tabs with a whiskey in hand at a local bar.

Cooking came into my life a little later than most, but for the last 6 years I have consistently tried to push myself to learn and accomplish more. In my 5 years cooking I have made everything from traditional French pastries to new school craft cocktails and had the chance to have a recipe of mine published in Bon Appetite as well a City Page’s “Cocktail of the Month”. I love creating and I have a deep commitment to quality.

I knew I wanted to be a Chef from a young age, I decided to focus on Pastry because of the creativity and science that goes into each recipe. Working at Chowgirls has helped me grow as a Chef and I thoroughly enjoy the amount of freedom, creativity, and encouragement I have here. When I’m not satisfying people’s sweet tooth I can be found playing pinball and drinking beer with my husband, visiting my family in Wisconsin, or going back in time at the Renaissance Festival.

Kate Kiernoziak

My first memory of being useful in a kitchen involves my Mama and I making pierogi around the holidays in Poland. Cooking, and eating, has always been a catalyst of togetherness in my life, which is what motivated me to become a chef. I am so grateful to work in a place that also values that as well. When I am not in a kitchen, you can find me bumming around Northeast Minneapolis, walking my dog, drinking wine, eating tacos, and spending time with my favorite people.

Erika Friesen

Restaurants, catering and events have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. Starting from my mother’s and grandmothers’ kitchens I have worked in family restaurants, a B & B in England, banquet caterers and a monastery; as well as running my own catering gigs and large community gatherings. I actually have a hard time cooking for less than 50! I love nothing as much as a challenge and trying something new. When I am not at work I am either in someone else’s kitchen, singing with one of two local choirs I am a member of or enjoying a rare quiet moment.

I’ve been playing with paint, planting gardens, creating floral, cooking and styling food for over 25 years! A creative whirlwind, my passions mesh perfectly with my role at Chowgirls. I push to use my energy and vision to create and style events that are beautiful, original, and unique to our clients’ needs. I don't sit down much, but when I do, I'm drinking good coffee, eating dim sum, or trying on a great pair of shoes.

I started working at Chowgirls in the Summer of 2018 and am thrilled to be part of such a great company. I have been in the accounting field for over 16 years in various small business settings across the Twin Cities area, while calling Stillwater my home. When I am not counting beans, I am busy raising my two teen boys, kickboxing at the gym, or dancing with my beau.

Steve Cohen

I started my career in finance 25 years ago in the hospitality industry. Ten years later, my friend Heidi started Chowgirls with her friend Amy, and I have had the pleasure of watching it grow, offering a little advice here and there along the way. Finally the time was right in 2018 for me to join this amazing team in a more formal capacity as the CFO. I could not be happier lending my efforts to an organization devoted to sustainability and deliciousness. When not thinking about numbers, I’m thinking about philosophy, boring my friends and family alike with my ramblings, often with a beer or whiskey in hand.

Meet The Team
