Community
In March of 2020, as concerns regarding COVID-19 changed the landscape of the hospitality industry, Chowgirls partnered with Second Harvest Heartland to rally resources to create Minnesota Central Kitchen, an essential service to meet the growing need for emergency meals in our community. The initiative also provided jobs for chefs, rescued food from waste, and supported local farmers.
For more than a year, Chowgirls provided kitchen space, staff, supplies, and expertise to prepare and package 9,000 meals per week for our food-insecure neighbors and their families. Since our return to catering in April 2021 and as we navigate the pandemic, our hunger-relief work and community food service continues.
